Fish Tacos And Tequilas At The Iron Cactus

Fish tacos and tequila. Perhaps not something that you’d think one could base a Mexican restaurant review around. But if you think like that then you’ve probably never been to the Iron Cactus in Austin, Texas. Fortunately I have, and I will attempt to educate you in the way of fish tacos and tequila!

My and my girlfriends started the evening with a few pre-prandial drinks in the exquisite rooftop bar. The upstairs section is open air and often features live music and a bar. This bar is something to behold, and the sheer number of different types of tequila available is more than enough to shock and awe even the most hardened Mexican restaurant goer.

After a few too many tequilas upstairs we headed to the casual restaurant area for some food. I love Mexican food, so I was most definitely looking forward to this treat. Between us we ordered a fair few items of the accessible menu. Everyone enjoyed their food — the vegetarians among us were especially pleased with the selection that they were offered — but the highlight was definitely the fish tacos that I ordered.

Everyone agreed that this was a triumphant evening of good Mexican food and excellent drinks. We will return to the Iron Cactus in Austin, Texas.
