This may not sound very exciting to the Americans out there who have been lovingly cradling your devices for some time now, but to us Europeans who have been able to do nothing but watch this is earth shattering. In my twilight years there are few things left that surprise, shock or amaze me. I had a double surprise the other day when I watched the movies The Secret and The Awakening.

The Secret explains the law of attraction, which is arguably the most powerful law of the Universe. Brave claim? Yes, but entirely warranted. The concept and the application of the law have been documented in all forms throughout the ages albeit under different guises.

The Awakening DVD described that moment of epiphany – conveniently called the Awakening – where we are able to see everything that little bit more clearly and in a very different light; we are able to see how our positive thoughts can positively influence the world around us. Does this sound useful? It is.

The concepts introduced in the Awakening and The Secret are powerful ones and need some digesting. Reading a book about them might help but actual people telling actual stories is a much better way to understand the import of the ideas.

Danny Turner’s Hypoxic films – based in Northern California – have finally released their debut title, “Spun”. Spun isn’t your typical wakeboard video, churning along with footage of a handful of well known stars of the sport. Spun features lesser known members of the sports’ elite group. Some of these guys are really underrated and it’s great to see some of their sick moves finally being committed to wakeboard video.

In this wakeboard video you will see names like Wes Briscoe, Ricky Gonzales, Gator Lutgert, and Jake Huso. All massively talented wakeboarders but not yet into the category of household name.

The wakeboard video was shot – mainly – in California and one of its greatest – and most humorous – moments is when the boarders are attempting to hit the A-Frame slider positioned over the producer’s van.

This is a well rounded and well produced video and we certainly hope to see more from this talented producer

Ruckus is the music-download service being promoted by universities and colleges as the alternative to the file-sharing ‘problem’. It’s a problem, apparently, in the eyes of the RIAA. Is it really a problem? That’s a completely different discussion for a completely different day.

Here’s why it won’t work: students simply don’t care that their institutions are being put under pressure from the RIAA’s lawyers. All they care about is getting free music, videos, games, and other goodies. File-sharing is so easy for them it is difficult to see why on earth they would want to stop.

And we don’t think they will, at least not if ruckus is the only alternative. Students are united… in their love of file-sharing with applications like Ares. The authorities will certainly have to try harder than this if they want to encourage an amicable switch from ‘problem’ file-sharing to that done with Ruckus.

Downloading Pirate torrents is really easy. You just need to browse the web, find any torrents that interest you, and download. Once the pirate torrents are on your computer you need to open them up with a supported BitTorrent client. The client connects to the tracker(s) specified in the file, and receives a list of peers currently transferring pieces of the file(s) specified.

Once the pirate torrents are loading in your client your computer will being to ‘find’ other computers (’peers’) that are holding the files (or any smaller bits of the files) that you need to get a complete set. Once it has found a section that it needs it will download that. Once you have sections of the files from the pirate torrents available on your computer people will begin to download from you. The process continues (at least in theory) until everyone in the group (or ’swarm’) has a full set of all the files. It stands to reason that the more peers in the swarm, the quicker all pirate torrents will be downloaded.
